The point of PR

Watching the debate via media this month about energy supply, it was very clear that the contribution of PR to society is elevated discourse.


The energy sector has become a strong user of PR in response to the constancy of public attention. Many contributors to the current energy price and supply debate were assisted by PR professionals. They brought to the discussion and to journalists, facts, impacts and new perspectives. The result was a damned good debate that illuminated the public about the nature of the energy problem, its causes and its effects.  


Like any growing profession, there’s plenty of bland fence-sitters in PR. But good talkers and thinkers are also attracted to the role. They’re articulate, savvy, and mount smart arguments, and society is better for that.
